This sculpture forms a single elliptical ring that takes its shape from the first permanent work presented by What Is Missing?, The Listening ConeThe Sound Ring was created specifically for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, in reference to their world-renowned collection of species and habitat sounds. The sculpture has hidden embedded speakers playing soundscapes created by the Lab. The sound focuses attention on endangered species and habitats around the world. The artwork gives viewers an intimate and spatial acoustical experience of unique soundscapes.
